June 21, 2016: Toyota has revealed the India-bound 2017 Corolla facelift in Russia last week and it will hit Indian showrooms after the car’s international debut, which is scheduled later this year. It was earlier revealed online by the Japanese automaker in March and was also spied testing in Turkey. Some important updates include the adoption of Toyota’s ‘Under Priority and Keen Look’ design language, which incorporates elements such as sleeker LED headlamps and grille, chrome accents at the door handles, a choice of new 16/17-inch alloy wheels and, subtly updated rear profile. The existing Indian version of the car is powered by a 1.8-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel motors, which are expected to remain unaltered . The Corolla Altis competes with likes of the Volkswagen Jetta, the Chevrolet Cruze, the Hyundai Elantra and the Skoda Octavia in the domestic market.
